Santa Cruz Triathlon Clinic #1
If you've never done a triathlon before or are nervous about the upcoming Santa Cruz Triathlon, now is the time to practice everything from the open water to the transitions. The first triathlon clinic explains how to prepare for your race with tips on transitions, what to wear and what to bring. We'll begin by swimming the course and then we'll talk about transitions and have an in depth Q & A session. <more>
Just for Girls, the mini mermaid
The mini is a great way to introduce girls ages 6-12 to the world of running, or power walking. They'll find their "mini" mermaid inspiration as they meet new friends, laugh and smile their way along the 1.5 mile run/walk. <more>
Swim, Bike, Run, PARTY with Friends - Coach Heidi
The reality is, no matter where you come from, no matter how little or how much experience you have, you are better off with a friend by your side. This past weekend I got to experience how much fun racing can be as I traveled with Team Mermaid to Barb's Half Ironman. There is always something to learn from the personal journey we take to get us where we are going, but there is also another side and that is the party, the celebration, the encouragement and razzing that you can only get from good friends being along your side. <more>
Mighty Mermaid Group Workouts
Mermaid will be hosting four group workouts in preparation for the Mighty Mermaid Olympic Distance Triathlon. The group workouts are designed for the competitive athlete who is registered for the Mighty Mermaid or has previously competed in Olympic Triathlons. Workouts will be a mix of running and cycling with an emphasis on increasing speed and power. If you're looking to place in the top percentage of your age group or want to get an edge on your training come join us for one, or all of the group workouts. <more>
Six Week Santa Cruz Team Mermaid Training Program
A special 6 week training program in Santa Cruz designed to prepare you for the Mermaid Triathlon. Training with a group is the best way to stay motivated, meet new Mermaids and accomplish your goals. The training group is led by Coach Heidi. <more>
Giant for Women’s Bike Skills Clinic
Giant for Women will be presenting a special Bike Skills Clinic for the Mermaids and interested friends. The clinic will cover bike handling, gearing/shifting, clipping in/out, braking, and road safety. Ideal for the beginner rider, the clinic will offer a safe and supportive environment while you get comfortable on your bike. The cost is $25 which includes lunch. 100% of the proceeds will go to the following charities, Finding Sophia, the Young Survival Coalition and a local women's shelter. The skills clinic will last from 9:00 a.m. to noon, followed by lunch and then a mellow and fun two hour ride. Interested riders should RSVP a minimum of 4 days in advance. Mermaid San Francisco Run - 5K / 10K
Keep yourself training throughout the summer and fall with our November San Francisco run. Starting at Crissy Field, the run takes you to the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge and back. The inaugural run is already creating quite the Mermaid buzz. <more>

Part of a summer (weekday) evening series, the Splash and Dash features a 1.5 km open water swim followed by a challenging 5K run. The event brings out many local groups and athletes for an evening of fun and competition at Stevens Creek Reservoir. <more>
August 14th - Lululemon Athletica Happy Hour Run, San Jose, CA
Lululemon Athletica in San Jose (Santana Row) is sponsoring a bi-weekly, Friday Happy Hour Run. Our next fun, sociable 5K run is Friday, August 14th. Runners of all levels are encouraged to come out and participate. Post run, lululemon will host a free, in store happy hour for all participants. Interested runners should meet at lululemon at 5:30 p.m. The Happy Hour Run is guaranteed to be fun! <more>
Women on Waves Surf Festival, Capitola, CA
Head out to Capitola Beach on Saturday and Sunday October 3rd - 4th for the Annual Women on Waves Longboard Surf Festival. In addition to a weekend of surfing, the festival will have live music, sponsor demos, a run/swim competition and a raffle. The festival is a fund raiser for three local Santa Cruz beneficiaries. Come celebrate a weekend at the beach and bring the whole family. <more>
